Today, Ho Wing-yin, the Secretary for Housing, led a team from the Housing Bureau and the Architectural Services Department to Huizhou. She inspected the production progress and situation of the Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) components for simple public housing and returned to Hong Kong in the evening. In the morning, Ho Wing-yin visited the Green Technology Co., Ltd. of China Construction Steel Structure Group. She inspected the factory building for MiC components, listened to the report on the production progress and learned about the intelligent and automated manufacturing process. She highly appreciated that the engineering team had devoted a large amount of manpower and resources and adopted advanced management and construction technologies to support the simple public housing project. In addition to immediately increasing production capacity, material reserves and the number of high-quality personnel, the engineering team has also been constantly researching and improving the application of technologies such as the Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing Equipment Prefabrication (MiMEP) and MiC lifts, making the simple public housing project the first high-rise steel structure fully modular integrated construction project in Hong Kong that can be built quickly and safely, helping needy citizens improve their living environment as soon as possible. The components of China Construction Steel Structure are used to build the simple public housing projects on Yau Pok Road in Yuen Long, Area 3A in Tuen Mun and Choi Hing Road in Ngau Tau Kok. Ho Wing-yin said that construction of the four projects for the first batch of simple public housing had already started at full speed. Among them, the project on Yau Pok Road is expected to be occupied in the first quarter of next year. She thanked the construction team for their efforts and encouraged them to accelerate the progress of the projects. In the afternoon, the group went to the factory building of Yau Lee China Building Materials (Huizhou) Co., Ltd., a Hong Kong-funded enterprise, to learn about the innovative technologies and intelligent equipment used by Hong Kong contractors to manufacture MiC components, including welding robots and automated aluminum window production lines. This factory building has provided more than 90,000 prefabricated components for housing projects of the Housing Authority, including the Area 99 in Tung Chung and the Site R2-5 of the Anderson Road Quarry.
